Amazing how tech knowledge constantly migrates from labs to shopping carts. If you want to understand next year’s tech, look in a lab. If you want to understand today’s tech, look in the shopping carts of nerds. There’s a reason PC build details count as high-value content.

Aren’t you ignoring “Crossing the Chasm”? Chasm-crossing is precisely what has to happen (or not happen...), it can’t be taken as given. To take old (and thus very clear) examples — laserdisc, 8-track/quadrophonic, minidisc. Modern example — drones?
