Yep. Back in grad school, a friend doing a philosophy of language PhD and I briefly worked on a proposal to study the semantic creep of the word “strategy” and how it had been inflated through overloaded overuse. You can short inflated terms through disruptive misuse.

Heh yeah, that’s roughly the kind of thing we started writing. We gave up the project because we couldn’t get the funding to do a proper job of it.

You know a term is zombied when people start adding prefixes like "post-" or "meta-" to it. Those attempts never work to get past the terms never work either. You have to actively undermine the zombie and feed on its corpse to start anew
