Really don’t get people who are organizing things like regular weddings and expecting people to go. Postpone or virtualize. Don’t force friends/relatives (esp at-risk ones) to choose between pointless risks and awkward refusal. Fnish line is so close potentially, with vaccines 😡

Especially thoughtless re: elderly people who are much likelier to feel pressure of obligations and history of reciprocity in tight-knit social networks. Us atomized, disconnected types from younger generations can blow shit off much more casually.

It’s not the Trumpies or anti-vaxxers or anti-maskers etc. They at least think they’re making some sort of bold political statement, no matter how stupid. It’s the apathetically shallow people who pull this shit merely because they don’t want to be socially inconvenienced.

LA looked almost normal in November. Then boom people decided Covid threat had magically receded and gathering for thanksgiving and Christmas was more important and... deadly second wave.

In Germany, 15 people from 10 households went on a hike, sat together in a hut; no masks, no distancing. When some of them got sick, they broke quarantine and went to work. 25 infections so far. Officials calling for criminal charges.
