Everybody around me is either too damn clever or depressingly dumb. Wish I had a reliable test of mediocrity. Plus or minus meh from where I am.

Cleverness has an expiry date. If you don’t use it all up by that date, it goes bad and stinks up the fridge. Lots of stinky cleverness around too.

If you run out before you can afford to, you’ll have to settle for trying to be a good person instead, which sucks. That’s why I put myself on the slightly evil ration plan when peak cleverness started to loom.

This is an interesting thought. Is cleverness here referring to, IQ-smarts? Or a body of knowledge you have that might go stale/old?

I think a combination of that + a certain amount of insights - or time when your insights are good.
