how come some writers are more bingeable than others, besides the most obvious factor of writing many things set in the same universe often with same lead characters? 🤔

By bingeable I mean if you read one thing by them, you want to read the next thing and the next thing, like episodes in a bingeable tv show. I don't mean "page turner" within a single book which I think is more tactical

Heh neither is on my list. I've only read 1 Gibson (Neuromancer), and 2 Stephenson (Cryptonomicon and Diamond Age, and that was painful) For me, Pratchett, Banks, Asimov, Douglas Adams...Christie,

Herp derp. Where are the culture ships from again? I thought Gibson. And FWIW, I read Stephenson in teenage years so dunno if it would hold up. NK Jemisin may be that for me. Read Broken Earth series twice. Haven’t tried other stuff. Agree on Asimov.

Gibson and le Carre are binge authors for me. Sharp, crackling writing, high on tactile details. Authors like Banks, Stephensen, KSR are nice, but the investment in finishing their megatomes discourage binging for me.
