The example makes me wonder how much it costs to print/mint, transport, and otherwise physically manage the world’s conventional currencies. Seems like converting to electronic currencies could possibly use less energy?

Yeah the comparison to national power consumption of Nigeria etc is deeply disingenuous. Not just minting... consider power to run all the ATMs in the world, HVAC for all the physical bank branches, embodied carbon of zillions of cash registers...

To make this comparison ~fair you should divide by the actual amount of transactional commerce all that fiat enables. How many people are actually buying goods and services with Bitcoin, vs speculating or using as store of value?
