Given that UBI is an intermediate step towards FALC (or rather FALSC) societies such as the Federation from Star Trek and Banks' Culture, I'd say yes. A world in which people are free to play and explore instead of scraping by would be wonderful to live in.

Granted, I prefer my stories to lean towards the dystopian side. But that doesn't mean I would like to live in a cyberpunk hellhole, give me the Culture any day.
