Space opera is only interesting if it has both astronomical fun and a philosophical shtick. Neither alone does it.
I like Solaris, but I would not really call it "fun" (the book, haven't seen the movie)

Commonwealth Saga is a romp of a space opera that ticks both of those boxes. The Void Trilogy set in same universe afterward would as well
