I wonder... why is this such an incongruous thought? I can’t imagine Trump ever “collecting” anything Pinterest style. Not even his own press clippings or photos of golden things with Trump logo on them. He primarily uses those things as currency to bid for live attention.

I don’t think he’s ever been in interested in things for their own sake, only as a means to drive validating attention towards himself. I can’t even see him collecting photos of people he feels wronged by and means to take revenge on. Those would be ever-present live memories.

This may be why he managed to get a bit richer than he started. He’s not actually materialist/hedonist. He eats and drinks tastelessly. He wears expensive clothes to look good, not because he appreciates them. A kind of dark-ascetic. Even invisible money doesn’t interest him.

I don’t think so, he doesn’t have interests in the sense of Pinterest at all. He’s interested in all these things only as instruments of attracting attention or basic commodities.

I think the buildings were a form of this impulse for him. if he were younger and still in real estate he would be using Instagram for much the same purpose as Pinterest.

Exactly, it is ridiculous, and it is virtual signaling by Pinterest. The tiniest kid on the playground kicking sand on the bully after he is vanquished. When I have a social network, I too will ban Donald Trump.
