If you plot fractal tension/resolution graph of a story, the progressive peaks leading up to the climax... do they form an exponential or linear curve? It’s usually drawn as a linear ramp (Freytag triangle) but nobody specifies whether y axis is linear or log, so it’s unclear 🤔

Yes. The problem is the difference between getting the girl and saving the world, while theoretically massively different, don't actually feel that different to an audience, so it's quite hard for any vector of human emotion to ramp up exponentially
