How did Miami suddenly turn into a new schelling point for tech migrants? It wasn’t even on my radar (and still isn’t — something seems way off)

Interesting to see all the theories but it seems to be just efforts by Keith Rabois and the mayor to make fetch happen. There’s no there there afaict, though a lot of supportive wishful thinking (“if this were a real trend, X might explain it”). Let’s see if fake it —> make it

I think this is right, and this is what it will take to make it culturally, officially a Hub™. BUT it's also really as simple as way more people can and will work remotely now forever, and the climate is really really nice, plus low taxes and affordable housing.

It’s all the mayor on Twitter. Also a lot of tech feels bad because they’ve been told they’re the bad guys, so the power of being wanted is strong... I don’t think they’re going to like the summer there tho.
