Interesting to see all the theories but it seems to be just efforts by Keith Rabois and the mayor to make fetch happen. There’s no there there afaict, though a lot of supportive wishful thinking (“if this were a real trend, X might explain it”).

I think this is right, and this is what it will take to make it culturally, officially a Hub™. BUT it's also really as simple as way more people can and will work remotely now forever, and the climate is really really nice, plus low taxes and affordable housing.
Meaning even if the mayor stopped and Rabois stopped, it wouldn't be a Hub™ but it would be a _place lots of remote workers move to cause why wouldn't they_
It’s all the mayor on Twitter. Also a lot of tech feels bad because they’ve been told they’re the bad guys, so the power of being wanted is strong... I don’t think they’re going to like the summer there tho.
