Lately there’s been a gradual uptick in young(er) people asking me for “advice” and a steady decline in my energy to be helpful in any way. So I made up a convenient boilerplate advice table to blow them off with.
u could use light/dark crossings on this table to map character arcs: Michael Clayton = dark adulthood -> light act2; Inside Out kid = light childhood -> dark adolescence -> light adolescence ("learn to regulate emotions" !); Nightcrawler = dark emerging adult -> light adult;
scope of a movie seems to allow articulation of one crossing; setup your main character deep on one side but in scenario demanding different stage or side. big diagonal crossings seem to be more archetypal; minor crossings within same life stage are more dark comic (coen bros)
