Lately there’s been a gradual uptick in young(er) people asking me for “advice” and a steady decline in my energy to be helpful in any way. So I made up a convenient boilerplate advice table to blow them off with.
this is earnestpost... I'll probably refine it a bit and put it on ribbonfarm. It's not meant to contain any new thinking... more of a tldr summary of the general drift of past writing. Long-time readers... did I miss any key idea from old writing?
I feel like Act 2 is disproportionately long. But I suppose you just started that act I your own life, so are still defining it. I suspect 58-70 will differentiate as an “Act 3” based on markedly diminishing physical capacity and mature acceptance of Act 2 conditions.
yeah, you're probably right... otoh it is disproportionately long in time, but since learning rate slows, in "learning time" 28y in mid life is probably like 14y in early life.
I’m 46 and am learning how skills I’ve developed in different domains can combine for new possibilities. In your idiom, perhaps this is figuring out the lock I’m keyed for. I see the back half of this phase (Act 3?) as opening as many locks as possible before I’m feeble.
