Spider-Man 2 is a parable of self-esteem and confidence as most things about Spider-Man are. Hulk in Infinity War a) was an overly transparent allegory about mecha-cyborgian fever dreams; & b) plot device, as a full-powered Hulk would complicate Thanos' triumph.
apropos of nothing, one of the better superhero tropes is when the superhero loses his powers randomly for no good reason and then gets them back for no good reason (spider-man 2, hulk in infinity war)
