I didn't notice the food line until my second read on that thread; at first I thought it was half-cute, half-annoying hyperbole then I saw the food thing and immediately got defensive, prickly, irritated, angry, and had to restrain myself from having Takes

so I think that colors the tone of the whole piece -- if you have Weird Food+Authority Issues, that line takes it from probably-hyperbole to "oh my god he's abusive" and reframes the entire thing
