"Dad jokes" are a kind of patriarchal power move; they amuse the dad but everyone else is expected to respond. I don't think there's an equivalent mom joke genre per se. There's surely other mom-affliated speech genres that reflect their prototypical place in family dynamics.

Hard disagree on the patriarchal power move bit but agree it reflects a place in family dynamic. Dad jokes have clearly grown out of the “inept-sitcom-dad-that-no-one-fully-respects-patriarchy-of” era. It didn’t exist as a concept for my patriarchal ww2 vet grandpa.
