Messy cleanup. I guess it’s too rare a corner case to put in a sensor. My usual sequence is: 1. turn on 2. insert capsule 3. put cup under 4. push start 5. walk off to brush teeth If interrupt (like full capsule canister) between 2 and 4, this can happen. I’m a robot.

I should retrain to put cup down first, but facing such simple habits us surprisingly hard. I do it this way because water takes a few seconds to heat up and this sequence saves a few seconds between intention and first sip.

Oh I do that too! Mine lets me shut it off immediately if I notice it. Otherwise it would be a mess.

I do this occasionally but always immediately notice and instead of doing the rational thing and just turning the machine off I tend to go diving for a cup and try to race the dispensing mechanism like an idiot

I do that too. In my case you can’t interrupt the cycle (vertuo) without unplugging, so it’s reasonable. Would take as long to unplug.

One major challenge with coffee machines is one is commonly operating then before one has had coffee.

Ouch. The double whammy. I hate it. 1. Waste. 2. Need to mop up!

Happens every 100-200 cups, so 1-2 times a year, usually when I get distracted between turning on/inserting capsule and putting cup in. This time by a full capsule canister.
