These people don’t understand the difference between personal courage/risk and reckless endangerment of others. It’s not your risk to take on behalf of others.

I think they can. They just don’t think that way. It’s a sort of all-for-one hive-mind reasoning where they belong so strongly to a community they see no difference between themselves and the group. Anyone who rejects their perceived group risk consensus is a traitor.
