Huh, did not expect that memes and captioned image responses would outnumber typed text... fascinating. I still think of my favorite lines as lines first and organic parts of visual scenes second.

The worst part of turning 50 is understanding that grumpy old people usually have excellent reasons, because technology has destroyed something that was objectively better, if more difficult/less accessible. Who'd'a thunk. Weinberg's "raspberry jam" problem

hmm I'm 46 but I generally don't share that sentiment. It's all transient and comes/goes, and there are things I learned to appreciate that younger people never will, and vice versa. I'm not sentimental that way. To the extent I'm grumpy, I've always been grumpy that way.

I thought so too. The change was quite sudden, unexpected, and interesting. The real dilemma is that if you truly care about culture, you have to grieve its loss without stopping your work within it. Age starts to give you a sense of its scale, including the scale of loss.
