Starting to play with Arduino more. First I’ve fiddled with electronic assembly in ~20 years and the biggest learning is: middle-aged eyesight and finger dexterity suck. Reading resistor values and assembling even a simple circuit was more eye/finger strain than I expected.

I never found patience for Arduino.
Same for nuts and bolts fidelity.
Biased towards towards systems integration.
Felt like the Pi took me further, quicker that way.
Still don't understand why every sensor does not have a USB interface.

We mounted SQUID(PiCam+Accelerometer+Hotspot) on City 🚗 to take pics of the street every 1 second and match it to the accelerometer reading to automatically profile the street.
Then used CV to detect potholes.

This is when I ssh'd into SQUID while it was surveying a random street in the Bronx.
Felt like I'd connected to the Mars Rover 😂

If you join the yak rover project, you can get it detecting potholes before there are even roads 😎

Am Game!
Especially interested in doing some low-cost lidar mapping of sea floor
These folks are doing interesting things in that vein

Well now we have to do a naval version. Maybe controlled via tether from an OpenROV

Could be a great use case for Starlink where an untethered rover with pre-programmed routes could do underwater surveys, then surface to transmit data via a solar powered Starlink Buoy.

yeah starlink was a big part of the motivation for the yak rover project idea... now you have simple comms anywhere
