So about 10k people dying per day now looks like. So that’s about 30% the daily death rate of WW2.
About 150k people die everyday so this is a bump of premature deaths of up to 6% max. I’m guessing net +3-5%

I’ve basically done nothing extra selfless to help anyone, and nothing extra selfish to put people at extra risk. I guess I’m a neutral in World War C. This has me wondering what it would take to make me part of either the problem or solution on an acute collective action crisis.

it looks a lot better in terms of life years lost. the world wars killed a lot of young people.
this... doesn't. covid is comparable to a few years of road fatalities below a certain age.

Important to note that some counties (eg Russia) had staggeringly large losses in WW2 compared to US. The death rate in the US is significantly higher (~2x?) than it was in WW2.
