No they seem to be pretty random and mainly photos. Food, memes, screenshots, random scenery etc. Replies go to dms so I suppose it could end in flirting. I think it’s for advertising and satisfying their activist PE shareholders with Instagram feature parity.

It’s because you believe the things you say are worthwhile, and when taken together make a meaningful and non-repetitive body of work. Imagine if you didn’t, if you thought that you didn’t have anything valuable to say but still wanted to connect?

Memory is the basis for identity. By using media explicitly lacking it, people can try out new avatars without the risk of accruing the liability of past experiments.

I get why marketers want it. Create artificial urgency. I’ll never understand why the market “wants” (re: uses) it. I like my memories remembered, thanks.
