I don't know; I know my country (US) is obviously very individualistic but I've always been really suspicious that the Asian collectivism thing is largely bullshit. Basically that it's contingent on different factors and not racially/culturally essential.

I don't think there's a comparison in western experience, the whole point of the racist narrative is the dehumanization. It's supposed to be a whole "they're like robots or ants" sort of thing. Freaky non-human mindless drones that march in lockstep for The Greater Good.
