Getting really tired of Age of Explainers. I’d like motivators instead. Essays explaining why something is worth understanding rather than how it works.
MLI5. Motivate like I’m 5. I’ll look up the explainer if you succeed in getting me to care at all.

Thinking about it, I wonder if good motivators require some explanation of how it works in order to explain why you should be excited.
Otherwise it's tantamount to "this magic talisman will do all these excellent things!"

Probably but the intent of the explanation isn’t explanation in that case

not exactly the same but at least an adjacent vein of though that’s been bugging me lately. people that various groups get annoyed (or beef) with seem to care more about the motive force part than why...and seem to get shit done.

You are basically talking about buzz feed articles titled "7 things about nuclear reactors, number 5 will blow your mind "

agreed & it typically seems that most effective motivators tend to be story-telling frames

Have we finished explaining motivation yet?
Seems to be the first step, but how do we motivate it?
Oh dear.

I’d agree if the motivator is actually a doer. Best motivation is to see the person doing the thing and being successful at it. Plenty of “motivation” coaches out there without skin in the game.
