There are ordinary English words that I grew up using a fair amount but are barely ever used in the US. “Shirking” (as in shirking responsibilities) is one of them. There are many others I notice, but I can’t think of them off the top of my head because I’ve been Americanized.

I always figured that was because Indians learn a more British English. Basing this off basically nothing though.
