Hehe, not getting an actual bluecheck back when they were handing those out like candy is one of the best marketing decisions I've ever made. Now I can say 'bluecheck' pejoratively even if I myself ascend to bluecheck levels of klout. Status legibility is the mind-killer.

Possibly overcompensation for being Indian of twice-born bluecheck caste, but I really react have an allergic reaction to legible status indicators. I have no problem with invisible classes having to do with security/permissions, but I don't like badge/title/credential schemes

Badges, creds are for the dorks and bots.
In general, all superficial, headline reality is.
Sadly, eventually they catch on and come for the counter-signal-y reality

I like indicators where they're important and you should act differently based on status knowledge, and the only way to know without explicit markers is by having Connections--unless the goal is to exclude those unwilling/unable to invest sufficiently in Knowing.
