My own: I was supposed to be named after my paternal grandfather following the family formula but for whatever reason that default was rejected. Then my mom picked ‘Rahul’ which my grandmother vetoed on the grounds that it was a Buddhist name. Landed on family deity as compromise

My middle name is my father's, and my first name was chosen to fit That made the name search for my brother slightly awkward, because my entire family's first name starts with the same letter

named Tina cause I was tiny (4lbs2oz) preemy. Middle name Louise after my mom's best friend who passed on in a car accident. So everyone thinks I'm named after the red headed actress Tina Louise, who played Ginger on Gilligan's Island ;) eldest sister was named Christina

One day, before I was born, my mom said "Brian" to refer to me, without any conscious understanding of why she had said that (or, at the point, whether I was a boy or girl). My dad replied with "oh, is that his name?" and my mom said "I guess so."

I hope this doesn't come across as me being cynical, because I actually love this story

After mother and grandmother, but the combination of both names is chaos magic.

My dad (like almost every decision in his life) came up with it ona whim. This is frustrating for me, because I can give you plausible reasons and context for nearly 100% of events in my life.
-
Life and thoughts are but a whim ;)
