It is clear that people got these common sense ideas as far back as the 1919 or even the 14th century, when the science was weak, superstition was strong, and religious explanations dominated. Then as now, idiot leaders misled people, but common-sense risk management did not.

That is a big difference with Sweden. So many folks think they are pursuing herd immunity which is false. They have presented simple guidelines and the people follow the guidelines. The government doesn't need to close things down because the citizens are acting responsibly.

My parents drilled into me to eat well (healthy/nutritious and avoid soft drinks) and don’t go into debt (live within my means). They (born 1908 and 1924) didn’t trust there would be recourse for mistakes in health or personal finance.
