I don't even think that arg is graeber's from the beginning, it's something he got from feminists - the idea that various power asymmetries lead to different levels of understanding/doubt came out of intersectional feminists in particular

Graeber said his whole "bullshit jobs" schtick came to him from meeting too many people embarrassed of their jobs at cocktail parties. However, his whole lefty milieu talks about labor because Marx's whole theory of value revolves around labeling and accounting for it.
