In the Futurama 1999 election episode a plot element eerily foreshadows the weird time factor tiday: the humans vote early and Nixon is losing by a landslide (0 human votes), but then the robot polls open and are over in an instant, and he wins by 1 vote.

It’s unclear who voted early/by mail vs who waited till today, or which votes are logistically easier to count. It *seems* like D’s should dominate early voting *but* will be counted late due to paper ballots. R’s should be voting today but should be counted faster due to EVMs?

New for @NBCNews: a huge partisan chasm between the early/absentee vote and Election Day vote is to be *expected,* not surprising. Beware red and blue “mirages.” nbcnews.com/politics/2020-
