I’ve lived through 6 US presidential elections and 5 were utterly routine. Only one, the 2000 one, had even a hint of trouble. This one... damn. Already the expectations of strife are turning into self-fulfilling prophecies. A steadily growing set of skirmishing zones.

Edit: 5 excluding this one. I think Covid has imposed maybe a 50% extra logistics tax on the election, but Trump has imposed an other 50% civil unrest tax, making for a 2x overloaded system.

For most things I blame Trump supporters rather than Trump himself. He’s just their revenge-messenger demon agent. But for this strife-fraught election, it’s all him. His followers wouldn’t be spoiling for a civil war if he hadn’t undermined trust in the electoral process.
