I was 8 when our town got the one national broadcast channel, and 11 before my family got a TV. Until I was about 15 there was just the 1 channel with maybe 4 hours of worthwhile stuff on it in a good week. I read books and played outdoors a lot. That was a very primitive time.
Books are basically the assembly language of entertainment. They suck. Never read a book if a tv show or movie version is available. What are you, some sort of masochistic barbarian?

My favourite show was the daily 30 minute farming update (Krishi Darshan?) just after programming started every afternoon 🙃 it was amazing when the local cable-wallah hooked us up. From Krishi Darshan to Baywatch....
