Is it just me or are performance laptops being killed by neglect between Apple and Microsoft? 🤔 Nobody seems to need them. Programmers seem to do all their heavy compute in the cloud, consumers do most things with phone/tablet, workers work with anything via browser apps.

I feel like most of the applications left for local power computing I can think of require way more screen real estate than a laptop can offer

I would only edit video or work on 3d renderings on a laptop in an emergency (two applications where there is still no upper limit to the amt of useable horsepower)

This is what I’m getting into. Is it doable to process on the cloud but remote view the visual rendering over the network? Last time I looked into that half the software wouldn’t work that way and uploading big files for processing was a bitch too. But that was like 10y ago.

I’ve done 3D rendering on a Paperspace machine- it’s not perfect for sure, and at least as of several months ago they only had GPUs that were optimized for ML and not graphics (3D doesn’t require crazy low latency so it does work)
