self-identified tech people have the energy and resources to build the next great society, but we don't have a clear political mandate or a vision for what the political economy of the future should look like
There is an unclear vision, though, and it’s driven by subconscious assumptions in the minds of people making the tech.
Subconscious adherence to legibility is how we get accidental high-modern dystopias built by 24-year-olds.
If I were to institute a licence for technologists it’s only so I could mandate that every fresh CS grad read:
postmodern epistemology
Heidegger on technology
& pass a test proving they had fallen in love, known someone truly broke, & spent a year doing nothing but napping.
