Can’t place this geographically/culturally. Sounds vaguely west-coast working-class Latino to me, but the kid/young man looks Asian (18 maybe? Filipino?) Wish I had a better ear for accents and subcultural usages. Like what groups are most likely to say “you feelin’ me bro?”

How come we don’t see characters like this written into tv shows? Asian characters are written with a much narrower set of caricatured personality ranges. More than the limited roles (convenience store owner etc), it’s the lack of personality variation that makes them lifeless.

I don’t mind that non-black minority characters are written as narrow side roles. Sucks for actors but accurate reflection of America, and unlike Oscars, I’m indifferent to representation. But the personality range limits are annoying. This character would never be on a show.

I’m no scholar but I figure producer, director, and writer jobs are likely more accessible to folks with ✌🏻 traditional ✌🏻 backgrounds. Write what you know, and then... shallow minority characters. He *is* quite charismatic with an energy similar to Luis from the MCU.
