You know when event organizers use the phrase theyāre trying to evoke a sort of relaxed warmth and intimacy that simply isnāt there. Thereās no actual fire, hot cocoa, or single malt. The people do not let guards down enough to connect with fireside depth.

Conversational podcasts donāt really have fireside energy. Real fireside energy is the sort portrayed for eg. in some Sherlock Holmes stories, where Holmes and Watson have contemplative chats beyond the case at hand. I think companionable reflection is key; fires make you reflect

Iām sure many of these fireside chatters are good thoughtful people having good thoughts, but damn itās depressing to think of this river of conversations. With PR people desperately trying to get social media action going around it with āplease clapā hashtags.
