Other-directed cognition is probably the biggest risk factor in underindexing on climate. If 90% of your thoughts revolve around other people, your brain is only used to people-scale problems. It’s like living in a one-storied environment and not realizing falls can kill.

Social problems are really a tiny band of all problems. But most work exposes you to nothing else. Your brain gets wired to solve status, civility, lie-detection, cheating/trust, coalition type problems. Computationally these are a low-dimensional subspace.
