Other-directed cognition is probably the biggest risk factor in underindexing on climate. If 90% of your thoughts revolve around other people, your brain is only used to people-scale problems.
It’s like living in a one-storied environment and not realizing falls can kill.

Social problems are really a tiny band of all problems. But most work exposes you to nothing else. Your brain gets wired to solve status, civility, lie-detection, cheating/trust, coalition type problems. Computationally these are a low-dimensional subspace.

Seductive and beautiful idea, but I think it's plain-vanilla commons problem. It's about having kids, full stop. The rest of it is distinctly secondary. Also, main reason I'm pessimistic. Everyone thinks take one they're small. Or two...Don't really care, as I'll be dead by then.
