Funny how we’re inching closer to simply rolling the dice on the natural stability band of earth. I don’t think we’ll end up in runaway global warming a la Venus, but I suspect it will only take a far smaller thermal hiccup to wipe most life out.

Planetary homeostasis might well self-correct to lovely weather somehow in a couple of centuries, but that doesn’t mean most life can endure the transient spike.

I wonder how that tech maturation curve works. Or really, what’s to stop some egomaniacal billionaire from just... doing it... because he decides it’s worth rolling the dice now rather than waiting for the science

Btw, have you come across any work in keeping the atmospheric albedo boosting stuff localized so the accompanying dimming doesn’t inhibit plant growth? (Genuinely curious, haven’t read up yet)

I think we should research and test everything we can think of, at reasonable scale, because in 50 or a hundred years, or sooner, we will be desperate enough to try anything, it would be good if we had real data.
