Interesting. It’s not the kind of thing I like to nerd out over, so early on wife and I just made the conservative decision to act like it was significantly more airborne and lingering than people were saying.

1/ This is quite a significant development. Some will say “finally”. Some might say this is wrapped up in politics. For me, journey to this conclusion is kind of a big deal. A look back… twitter.com/DavidElfstrom/…

I do think it’s wrapped up in politics. 6 foot distancing always felt more like a compromise between public health and economy than a heuristic based on health alone.

It’s like an Overton window of acceptable science and common sense whose position and width is set by acceptable economic loss rates.

Some of this stuff (aerosol spread, you can get it through your eyes) was known or at least strongly suspected while it was still in Wuhan. It's been bizarre to watch it all get re-learned piece by piece over here.

Same here. The Guangdong restaurant made airborne transmission clear a long time ago. There was never any evidence to otherwise suggest that airborne transmission was not dominant. More than 6 months later, I guess it's great that we can finally accept this?
