🔥💀 To put things in perspective:
Today CA's biggest wildfire season surpassed 4 million acres burned, more than double the state’s previous record.
Before this year, 2018 was California’s biggest year for wildfires, w more than 1.8 million acres burned. (via LA Times)

Someone posted a cool map with historical burns and new burns overlay awhile back, I'll try to dig it up tomorrow. My town hasn't burned in 80+ years or something according to that map and it is full of dry dead things. Prob is manual labor to clear is very expensive.
When you talk about mansions I think about Texas mainly because I remember seeing some HGTV shows a decade+ ago that remodeled $1M homes and in SFBA you get crappy condo but in Texas you get giant mansion with marble floors and a big yard.
