      Lorah Retweeted CA Fire Scanner

Also, CAFirescanner (ironically in NZ but that's perfect because they tweet late when the other fire accounts are sleep) sends out a daily update of acres burned and % contained (see also their second tweet in the thread):https://twitter.com/CAFireScanner/status/1312948283795337217?s=19 …

      Lorah added,

      CA Fire Scanner @CAFireScanner
      #GlassFire: 64,900 acres, 26% contained. #ZoggFire: 56,305 acres, 70% contained. #CreekFire: 316,673 acres, 49% contained. #BearFire/#NorthComplex: 318,724 acres, 83% contained. (#NorthComplexWestZone: 84,595 acres, 95% contained.) #BobcatFire: 115,758 acres, 88% contained.

i read somewhere that ca would need to burn 20M acres before its backlog of fire suppression would be more evened out... if you're interested i can try to dig it up

Read discussion about that (can't remember ref atm) but my takeaway is that enough brush grows back in 2 years to be a fire hazard again. However fires like CreekFire (near where I currently live) were super intense mainly bc of heavy fuel like oaks killed by bark beetle.
