They often white label successful products from other regions, that are made in this regions. The mix could be one that is available under a brand name in India; the challenge could be finding the right one!

That's south indian, I think. The murukku (long spiny thing) is very specifically south indian. North indian mixtures have a distinct taste and people generally like one or the other in my experience.

As a recent transplant from the U.K. to the US, I have been pretty impressed with Trader Joe’s frozen Indian food. The palak paneer is pretty good! Though for snacks, Haldirams is the one to beat..
