Fore is greater than fore/aft like for but more. To illustrate före in Swedish could also mean road condition in snow typically on skies. Förlängd in Swedish would mean something like extended.

The 'fore' is not the 'before and after' kind, but the 'foreground and background' kind. It means shortening the distance between foreground and background. So the opposite is forelengthened.

Or backlengthened for both parts? 🤔 Not sure it works for time usage though, as in foreshortened future. There is no background there
