Remdesivir has limited side effects. My understanding is that the only reason it's usually given later is to minimise cost, which obviously isn't a factor with a President.

but why is he showing any symptoms at all if he just tested negative yesterday? It has an incubation period and they're saying he has "mild symptoms." Either he's lying about getting test every day, or when he knew, or this is a very aggressive case.

I bet you he's just demanding "I WANT IT ALL". There was a Woodward clip that did not go around much that Trump knew someone in nyc he was close with who died from COVID. He definitely understands the mortality of this as much as he acts otherwise.

Most antivirals work best early. Certainly the POTUS should get it. He may be in a later stage though where it is not as effective.
