Coming back to this idea, I suspect it’s now Roam vs Notion. Evernote is simply too old paradigm-wise. I haven’t explored notion much, but from what I’ve seen it’s a suite of point-optimal tools. There’s no overarching paradigm.https://twitter.com/vgr/status/1199575415393619968 …

I recently learned about
@ScrivenerApp from@the_jennitaur, and it shares some of the same "second brain" aspects of Roam, etc., but its UI is solely focused on creating a single work/body of writing, but there are some interesting parallels. You ever come across it?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
I have been using scrivener for years. It's still my main pure writing app, but I'm actually transitioning a lot of my own notes from scrivener to roam.

Yea interesting. For whatever reason, I can't get into Roam. Think it's just a learning curve, or am I missing something?

You're a hedgehog who needs foxy tools :D

Yea, it's funny. I think of myself as a hedgehog in basically having one big life project, so I should be all about Roam, but maybe my more doer orientation makes me use foxy tools that are more about execution than compilation/organization?

No it’s the other way around. Roam is a hedgehog second brain for foxes.

Ah interesting - so you think these systems are more about finding complementarity than congruence with your core MO? So you're a fox with Roam as hedgehog 2nd brain?

Precisely.

Precisely for which one? Or both? :-)

That was a good thread, but I'm still unsure about the P/J vs fox/hedgehog thing, but do like the "views vs. holds" framing.

P/J is not a great isomorphism. I wouldn’t attempt to connect it to hedgehog/fox. But if you must, it’s not the P/J dimension but the middle 2, T/S and N/F and the mapping is not simple. For example for NTs, TiNe is probably fox, TeNi is hedgehog

Roam as hedgehog second brain for natural foxes, Evernote as foxy second brain for natural hedgehogs
