Rewatching Matrix Revolutions. Realizing something has always bothered me. The squid-like machines move like they’re underwater rather than in the air. They’re in underground air but aren’t underwater. But dynamics look lighter-than-medium. Avengers I has the same problem.
I don't mind unrealism, I just don't like janky unrealism. I'm fine with atmospheric dogfighting in asteroid fields if it's clear that you're doing a sort of stylized allegorical thing. What bugs me is when it looks like a sloppy, incoherent aesthetic non-choice.

I don’t think these were screw-ups — there are too many eyes on it at Marvel to let something like that slip by unintentionally. They simply have a different aesthetic and thought it would be cool to make it look like water was the medium. It’s hard to please everyone.

I actually do mind WWI-esque dogfighting at close range in space with atmospheric physics. Large ship to ship encounters are more like 1700s-1800s naval battles. It’s ridiculous. But it doesn’t screw up the story enough for me not to enjoy it.

Have you seen
#TheExpanse? It’s possibly the best Sci-fi TV show ever made. Meticulous attention to detail on the physics. Remarkable character development — even better than the books. A stunning example of great storytelling brought to life by@TheExpanseWR &@TheExpansePO. -
A few of my favorite scenes from
