Any good study, or also opinion piece, looking at the premium of consulting vs internal workforce. Like, why is a junior McKinsey consultant paid 5x similar profile (edu and experience) at the client company?

“similar experience” is doing a lot of work there 😆
Anyway edu and experience don’t really matter. That is not what McKinsey sells. You’re buying outsider with different political presence in org, and transient capabilities that are not worth employee investment
Thanks. I am looking for some structural explainers of how “fat” trickles down even to junior level (in absence of talent supply constraints) while slimmer businesses inversely put a cap on earning regardless of profile. seems to have a good lead with bs vs p&l.

Oh you’re asking why McKinsey pays its staff that much? Do they? The bill rate isn’t the salary junior hires receive and the disparity isn’t 5x relative to comparable client employees afaik.
