Yea, likewise. Though I think the Rajneesh people in Oregon had something cool until fucking Phil Knight had to fuck with them. That and the crazy lady who wanted to kill people. And the bioweapon to curb voter turnout.

Note though that internal factional crap forced the government to take over in 1980. I suspect that’s not uncommon. People underestimate the difficulty of large-scale intentional community governance.

Hell, people underestimate the small-scale intentional community governance! It might sound cliche, but I think the lack of diversity (of beliefs, lifestyles, jobs, etc.) is what kills these. They're just too groupthink-y to work. You need a reality feedback loop.

Well plenty of small scale coop houses have been functioning for decades in many university towns, but the transience of the population helps

Yea, but it's still pretty hard to make them work well. Also the uni ones are much less culty and more likely to have healthy dissent and appreciation/structure of seniority to help guide.
