This is correct But they are also correct because they aren’t trying to convince him. But win a social capital war with others who want to position this as ethically justified move

Actually it is his LACK of hypocrisy that gets people enraged. He is shamelessly unprincipled, but the rule of law depends upon at least a fig-leaf of adherence to principle. By tromping on it in such an open fashion it makes it hard to keep the narrative going.

McConnell critics are misguided because he hasn't even tried to play it coy. Similarly criticizing Schumer is odd because what can he do? He doesn't have the votes.

McConnell’s position is deeply hypocritical and for raw partisan advantage. However complaints from the liberal “pack the Court” faction on Twitter are laughable as they would do exactly the same and more in his position. And have been advocating to do it for years
